UAE, 24 November, 2010: TVM Capital MENA has been awarded top honors at the 4th Private Equity World Awards, winning Best New Private Equity Fund for its shari’a-compliant, MENA focused healthcare private equity fund.
The Private Equity World Awards MENA recognises the leaders, innovators, creative talents and pioneers in the regional Private Equity industry.
The fund which held its first closing in February 2010 is the first global private equity fund with a focus in healthcare and life sciences to establish operations in the MENA region. Its investments to date include Nobel Prize Winning IVF facility Bourn Hall International. Bourn Hall was the world’s first IVF clinic and the deal with TVM Capital marks its first international expansion.
Previously the firm announced its investment in Pro Vita Abu Dhabi, the only long-term care and rehabilitation facility for patients requiring ventilator support in the UAE. Both deals are consistent with the fund’s strategy of involving leading global operators to provide unique and specialized healthcare services in the Middle East, directly catering to growing demand.
“An enormous amount of hard work has gone into the development of the fund and the response from leading regional investors is testament to TVM Capital’s growing reputation as the forerunning healthcare PE firm in the region. To win such a well-respected regional accolade as Best New PE Fund is a real achievement,” said Dr. Helmut M. Schuehsler, Chairman and CEO of TVM Capital MENA.
He continued, “The MENA region represents a unique and attractive investment environment in healthcare and TVM Capital MENA is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this opportunity. We look forward to leading a positive future for healthcare investment.”
Building on a 25-year track record of successful healthcare investments in Europe and the U.S., the resulting experience and broad networks in the health market, as well as stable and high quality deal flow, the TVM Capital management team is equipped to bring top-rated Western operators to the MENA region and help develop pioneering companies locally.
