Dr. Sarper Tanli has extensive experience in healthcare planning, development, operations and informatics on an international scale, and played a key role in the planning and development of Dubai Health Care City (DHCC)
Abu Dhabi – Dubai, November 8, 2016: Middle East home care services provider Manzil Health Care Services has appointed Dr. Sarper H. Tanli, as Group CEO to lead the company’s expansion strategy following success in the UAE, Qatar and Egypt.
Dr. Tanli has a long and successful career in healthcare, having begun as a physician in Istanbul in 1990 and subsequently earned a distinguished reputation as an expert in the field of healthcare planning and development. He brings an outstanding track record in medical and healthcare management and operations across the United States, Turkey and latterly Dubai as both Director of Harvard Medical International and Vice President of Houston Methodist Global Health Care Services. He was one of the leading executives establishing Dubai Health Care City and multiple outpatient centers in Dubai and various greenfield healthcare development projects in the Middle East and Turkey. He had created multiple clinical and academic collaborations between major medical institutions. Previously, he has launched and grown a home care company employing 200 nurses in Turkey. He has acted as a trusted advisor to the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee to Manzil since 2013. He has also holds PhD and masters in healthcare degrees in addition to his medical degree.
Manzil Health Care Services, majority-owned by emerging markets private equity firm TVM Capital Healthcare Partners and a group of co-investors, provides a wide range of high quality home health services, including disease management programmes, physiotherapy, wound care and diabetes care. As part of a commitment to delivering best-in-class service, Manzil has affiliations with Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, a Harvard Medical School Teaching Hospital, and the Joslin Diabetes Center, the world’s largest diabetes research center. Manzil also has an alliance with Planetree Inc., a not-for-profit organization that aims to transform the way healthcare is delivered, through an ethos of patient-centred care. “Manzil is an excellent example of a company that is filling a significant gap in healthcare provision in emerging markets,” Dr. Tanli said. “Private home care services are becoming increasingly popular because they allow patients to receive care while leading as near to normal lives as possible, in a familiar environment, and surrounded by relatives while helping to free much needed and also more costly hospital beds for those who need them most.” Established in the UAE 2011 by Emirati physician Dr. Ghuwaya Al Neywadi, Manzil Health Care Services has since expanded into Egypt and Qatar, building expert teams of physicians, nurses and therapists and a team of more than 450 across all geographies.
Dr. Helmut Schuehsler, who serves as the Chairman of the Board at Manzil Health Care Services and CEO of TVM Capital Healthcare Partners said demand for home care services is rising across the region and emerging markets in general: “There is a clear need for high-quality home care services due to aging populations and the growth in the prevalence of chronic illnesses and non-communicable disease,” Dr. Schuehsler said. “Patients across emerging markets are demanding world-class post-acute and rehabilitative care and many have found that visiting hospitals frequently is not only hugely inconvenient but can carry additional infection risks. In the UAE, hospitals are increasingly looking to free up ICU beds by discharging patients into specialist facilities, and to their homes, in the knowledge that homecare is available. Typically, this would be appropriate for patients recovering from strokes and trauma, neurological conditions and long-term congenital conditions. We are very happy to have won Dr. Tanli to lead Manzil into a successful new growth phase of the company and leverage his expertise within our team of Operating Partners.”
