John L. BrooksFormer CEO of Joslin Diabetes Center will work with investment and operations teams to identify and execute on new investment opportunities

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, July 2016: Emerging markets private equity investor TVM Capital Healthcare Partners has appointed John Brooks, a globally renowned expert in the healthcare industry, medtech and treatment of diabetes, as a senior advisor, as the firm looks to invest further in areas where demand is growing for highly specialist care.

Brooks, who was formerly President and CEO of Boston-based Joslin Diabetes Center, will work with the company’s investment and operations teams to identify new investment opportunities in this sector. TVM Capital Healthcare Partners is currently raising its third fund, which plans to invest in the emerging healthcare markets of the Middle East and North Africa region, India,Turkey and Southeast Asia. With TVM Capital Healthcare Partners, Mr. Brooks joins a healthcare investment and advisory group that has declared its goal of establishing global centers of excellence in emerging markets through clinical affiliations with strong international healthcare institutions.

Over a career spanning 43 years, Brooks has led international teams focused on healthcare private equity investment. He was a founding General Partner of Prism Venture Partners, an early stage venture capital investment firm for nine years, and is a Director of the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse, and its two accelerator funds.

Brooks currently serves as Chairman of the Board for a number of highly-regarded healthcare organisations including Cellnovo Group SA, the world’s first mobile diabetes management system; the College Diabetes Network, a diabetes-focused non-profit; and Thermalin Diabetes, LLC, a company focused on insulin technology. He is also a Board Member of Hygieia, Inc, a healthcare company specialising in insulin guidance systems, and Ammonett Pharma, a privately owned biotech company, amongst others.
