We are very honored that ProVita resident Yusra Yasser Mayouf AlHattali exhibited her paintings at the Mina A’Salam Hotel at the Madinat Jumeirah on Thursday, 4th December on the occasion of our Healthcare Investors Conference. We are so proud of Yusra and her accomplishments. Congratulations Yusra!

Before being admitted to ProVita in 2011, Yusra Yasser Mayouf Alhattali was cared for in an ICU with limited access to the outside world. Yusra was born with a motor neurone disease, which led to chronic respiratory failure and the need for long-term ventilation. Her condition limits her mobility severely. Because of the nature of her condition, Yusra has spent a large portion of her life hospitalised.

Despite the limitations of her hospital environment Yusra was always determined to fulfill her goals of pursuing an education, taking up new hobbies and socializing with friends. Living at ProVita has given Yusra access to the type of healthcare she requires, but allows her to live her life in a homelike environment with nursing, respiratory therapy, and physician oversight around the clock. ProVita’s staff also accompanies Yusra to school five days per week and to other social outings as her school schedule allows. Yusra is now as busy as any young girl in her twenties in spite of her condition.

When asked about the main difference living at ProVita has made Yusra says, “I feel like I have a normal life, I can choose the things I want to do and I want to do more and more.”

It had long been Yusra’s ambition to study art and ProVita arranged for a teacher to visit her weekly. It was then that Yusra realized what she hoped would be an enjoyable passtime, would actually reveal an incredible talent for creating exceptional pieces of contemporary art. Yusra’s talent was recognized by her hero Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan who asked her to exhibit her work at the 2013 Access Abu Dhabi event.

Now, Yusra’s growing portfolio of work is housed at ProVita where we know it will be a source of pleasure for patients, families and visitors. And for Yusra, she plans to open an art studio, an ambition we have no doubt this inspirational young woman will achieve with her unique talent and immense dedication.
