Carl Stanifer

Carl Stanifer joined TVM Capital Healthcare in 2014. With his extensive working experience in Southeast Asia (SEA), he is a key contributor to the firm’s SEA strategy and lives in Bangkok and Amsterdam. Amongst other roles, he was the Group Chief Financial Officer at Bumrungrad Hospital Public Company Limited in Bangkok, Thailand. Prior to joining Bumrungrad, Mr. Stanifer was Chairman and President of start-up, VISTA Healthcare Asia Pte. Ltd. For several years prior to VISTA, he worked for U.S.-based Tenet Healthcare Corporation where he held several senior positions including Senior Vice President, Operations of their International Healthcare Division. During his fifteen-year tenure with Tenet, he lived and worked in Saudi Arabia, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore. He also served in the International Division of Hospital Corporation of America (“HCA”) where he worked with the Singapore Ministry of Health to implement restructuring of MOH hospitals from civil service to private ownership.

Within the TVM Capital Healthcare portfolio he served as Chairman of the Board and Member of the Executive Committee to Cambridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center, a former portfolio company. He is also currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of Manzil Healthcare Services Company in the UAE.  Mr. Stanifer was previously, for four years, Non‐Executive Chairman of Arabian International Healthcare Holding Co. (“Tibbiyah”), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Al Faisaliah Group in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has extensive experience in health care operations, financial management, acquisitions, new company start-ups, and new facility development; and successfully served as the Group CEO of Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (“SEHA”) for seven years. He was the first CEO of this company following its formation by Emiri Decree in 2007. SEHA owns and operates a multi-facility healthcare company in Abu Dhabi.

 Mr. Stanifer holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of the Cumberlands, and conducted graduate studies in Health Planning and Administration at the University of Cincinnati. He is a past member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a past member of the U.S. based Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Medical Group Management Association. Mr. Stanifer is a U.S. citizen.

 

John Evangelista, MD

A medical doctor by education, John Evangelista has specialised in healthcare management for the past 30 years.  He has worked as a member of executive teams in the UK, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates and the Philippines.

 

He was also involved in projects in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. John has strategic and operation expertise with hospital services, ambulatory care, primary care and rehabilitation.

 

His executive experience includes private sector and public sector management, ranging from large public and private organisations to disruptive start-ups.John’s strengths include developing and commercialising new healthcare models as well as innovative products and services.

 

He is currently managing his own healthcare consultancy group, Sanus Vitae and is an Associate Partner of Synergia Consultancy Group based in the Australasian region.

Mohamad El-Hage

Founder, operator, and investor in specialized healthcare service companies in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA). Realized USD 300M in proceeds and >5x returns to shareholders with the development and sale of CMRC and Manzil.

Operating Partner at TVM Capital Healthcare, providing select portfolio company strategy and development advisory; and Senior Executive to portfolio company Infusion One Medical.

Co-founder at Vivus Rehabilitation Company (Vivus), a specialized rehabilitation outpatient company with two clinics in Kuwait and seeking to expand into KSA.

Previously (2012-2021), served as Managing Director and Operating Partner at TVM Capital Healthcare for nearly ten years, during this time:

  • Co-founded Cambridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center (CMRC) at TVM in 2012 and led its strategic and financial development from inception through to multiple fundraising rounds, expansion in the UAE and KSA, substantial profitability, and ultimately its sale to Amanat Holdings, achieving a shareholder cash monetization of USD 265M. After the sale, led the company as CEO from 2022 to mid 2023, until re-joining TVM.
  • Led the acquisition of Manzil Healthcare Services (Manzil) in 2013 as an early-stage homecare business in Abu Dhabi and drove its 20x revenue growth, and expansion across multiple countries in the MENA. In 2019, led the spin-off and sale of the Abu Dhabi business unit (Wahat Al Aman) to Aster DM, achieving a substantial return on investment to shareholders.

Spent the first 14 years of career in finance, investment, and strategy advisory roles at leading firms – PwC, JP Morgan, Booz Allen Hamilton, Unifund Capital, and The Executive Office of HH Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Advised on several billion dollars of M&A transactions, organizational developments, and corporate turnarounds.

Graduated with a BBA from the American University of Beirut, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management. Actively engaged in non-executive board roles; and global networks, including Lebanese International Finance Executives (LIFE) and the Young Presidents Organization (YPO).

Dr. Muhammad A. Chaudry

Prior to joining us, Dr. Muhammad Ali Chaudhry served as a founding board member and shareholder for the first Private Medical and Dental college in Southern Punjab, which  included a 600 bed acute care hospital and allied health schools to train nurses and other paramedical staff. He also founded a healthcare start up in Pakistan, aiming to provide quality healthcare to a growing middle class in second tier cities.

 

His professional accomplishments include the building of successful partnerships and alliances with prominent academic, corporate, and government healthcare organizations, including Johns Hopkins Medicine, Mubadala Healthcare (subsidiary of Mubadala Development Company), Saudi Aramco, Siemens Healthcare, and the Government of Abu Dhabi Healthcare Regulatory Authority (HAAD).

 

Dr. Muhammad received additional clinical and research training at Johns Hopkins Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College, SUNY, and University of Pennsylvania as well as Harvard Business and Public Health Schools. He holds a medical degree from Nishtar Medical College in Multan, Pakistan, and an MBA from University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Michael Davis

Michael Davis is the Founder and CEO of Davis Health and an Operating Partner at TVM Capital Healthcare. With over 30 years of experience across the US, UK, Europe, South America, Africa, and the Middle East, Michael has built a career focused on strategic healthcare development. His expertise spans 5 verticals including 1) multi-specialty hospitals and clinics, 2) long-term acute care, 3) home care and rehabilitation, 4) cosmetic surgery and aesthetics, 5) IVF and fertility, and operations and management.

After relocating to the UAE in 2013, Michael joined TVM Healthcare MENA, where he was pivotal in the growth of the fund’s long-term care business. He served as CEO of ProVita International Medical Center, the UAE’s first provider of long-term acute care, until its acquisition by NMC Healthcare in 2015. Michael then moved into NMC’s corporate leadership team, where he led strategic expansion into the Saudi Arabian and UK markets through M&A and greenfield projects. As Group Chief Operating Officer, he also guided NMC’s formation of the Saudi Medical Care Group in partnership with Hassana Investment Company and GoSI.

In 2020, Michael became CEO of NMC Healthcare, overseeing the divestiture of non-core assets, including the $502m sale of Clinica Eugin, and managing the company’s restructuring of USD$7b of debt. His work led to improved governance, transparency, and a new corporate culture. After successfully steering NMC through these transformations, Michael founded Davis Health to leverage his expertise in strategic healthcare planning, M&A, and stakeholder communication, helping both private and public organizations achieve sustainable growth and clinical and operational excellence.

Othman Abahussein

Mr. Othman A. Abahussein is a highly experienced healthcare professional in the field of healthcare services, insurance and trading since 1983. He is a graduate of Business in Hospital Administration from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, USA in 1982. He then completed a Master of Health & Hospital Administration degree from King Saud University with affiliation of UNC, Chapel Hill, NC in 1987. He started his professional career with HCA operations of the National Guard Hospital in Riyadh in the beginning of 1983 until the end of 1994. He worked with one of the leading medical insurance companies in Saudi Arabia (NCCI) from January 1995 onwards for two years, after which he went on to become the general manager of Arabian Healthcare Company (part of Olayan Group) from 1997 to 2009. From Olayan Group he joined National Medical CARE Company as Chief Executive Officer, a position he held until December 31,2014. His core professional competencies include strong leadership, empowering talent, optimized utilization of resources, and creating synergized working environments within the organization. His experience from 30 years in the healthcare profession spans positions in operations as well as strategy.
