John Brooks

Over a career spanning 43 years, the former CEO of Joslin Diabetes Center, John L. Brooks, has led international teams focused on healthcare private equity investment.

 

He was a founding General Partner of Prism Venture Partners, an early stage venture capital investment firm for nine years, and is a Director of the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse, and its two accelerator funds.

 

Brooks currently serves as Chairman of the Board for a number of highly-regarded healthcare organizations including Cellnovo Group SA, the world’s first mobile diabetes management system; the College Diabetes Network, a diabetes-focused non-profit; and Thermalin Diabetes, LLC, a company focused on insulin technology. He is also a Board Member of Hygieia, Inc, a healthcare company specializing in insulin guidance systems, and Ammonett Pharma, a privately owned biotech company, amongst others.

Nasser Massoud

Nasser Massoud is a specialist in healthcare investments and public private partnerships with over 20 years of experience in the industry. He has extensive knowledge covering several markets including emerging Europe, MENA, Central Asia, the Caribbean and SEA. He spent several years as global head of transactions for a major international healthcare provider and has worked with governments, investors and international funding agencies on studying and structuring investments in a range of healthcare fields including digital health..
Nasser has a bachelors in engineering and a masters in economics and management, both from UCL; a masters in finance from London Business School; and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is designated as a GHKOL (Global Healthcare Key Opinion Leader) by the Korean Health Industry Development Institute under the MoH of Korea, an appointment he has held since 2017. He is active in various global institutions such as the World Association of PPPs where he chairs the chapter on social sector PPPs (including healthcare); the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe where he participates on the team of experts for healthcare and digital health; and with the Harvard Business School Crossroads Athar initiative to accelerate the adoption of digital healthcare in the GCC countries.

Maher Abouzeid

Maher Abouzeid is a Healthcare Executive with over 25 years of experience in the industry with extensive knowledge in emerging markets, spanning  sales, service, marketing and the management of disposables, consumables, devices and diagnostic imaging equipment’s acquired through an exciting career in three major Healthcare multinationals.

 

He previously held the position of President & CEO of GE Healthcare covering Eastern Growth Markets across Diagnostic Imaging, Life Care Solution & Life Science.

 

He served as DePuy Franchise Director at Johnson & Johnson Medical managing the Orthopedic business (Spine, Hips & Knees, Neuro) and has started his career at 3M Healthcare (Medical, Dental & Pharmaceuticals) leading the business in the Middle East.

 

He is Six-Sigma Green Belt Certified and holds a Degree in Biochemistry attained from the American University of Beirut in 1992.

Su-Lin Chong

A graduate of the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, London, and London Business School, Su-Lin began her early career as a medical practitioner in the National Health Service, UK.  After taking her MBA at London Business School she went on to join a start-up consultancy specializing in ‘pharmaco-economics’, working with the Pharmaceutical industry in the areas of oncology and respiratory drugs.  She returned to Malaysia and began her career in hospital management in Subang Jaya Medical Centre, now part of the Ramsay Sime Darby network of hospitals, and was Director of Ancillary and Allied Health services before she was invited to be founding CEO and Project Director for the International Medical University’s planned medical centre. Su-Lin was subsequently asked to helm Sunway Medical Centre as its CEO, a position she held for 11 years, helping to establish its credentials as a tangible player in the private hospital space.  This role saw her expanding the physical hospital footprint and establishing education & research links with the medical school of Monash University Malaysia.

 

During this time Su-Lin was also invited to lead the ‘Healthcare lab’ run by ‘PEMANDU’ – Malaysia’s Performance and Delivery Unit where Healthcare was one of the 12 National Key Economic Areas identified to help with national economic growth.  She was then asked to take on the turnaround role at a major private hospital – a role she held for 5 years.  This included establishing business and clinical governance systems and structures, expanding the hospital’s client base, and leading a successful legal/arbitration case.  Since then Su-Lin has been involved in consultancy projects with national and private medical universities, in both advisory and operational capacities in the design and construction of healthcare facilities. Su-Lin is Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Nomination Committee of the Board of AIA Berhad, Malaysia’s major insurer as well as Council member of Hospis Malaysia, a charitable provider of palliative care services.

Prof. Alexander von Gabain

Chairman of the EIT Health Supervisory Board, microbiologist, academic, founder of several biotech firms and board member of venture capital firms. Founding board member of EIT in 2008 and began his involvement in the EIT Health Supervisory Board in 2015.

 

Worked at the intersection of the healthcare industry, academia, and research throughout his career.

Sophie Khau

Sophie Khau brings to the team 14 years of experience in private equity, corporate finance and entrepreneurship.

She started her career with AXA Private Equity, providing early stage and growth capital for SMEs in the technology and consumer sectors in Asia. She then joined the investment banking arm of BNP Paribas, advising large companies in Southeast Asia in mergers & acquisitions and equity capital markets transactions.

Subsequently, she expanded the footprint of the largest private sector group in Vietnam, Masan Group, through fundraising from private equity firms and other financial institutions and leading value accretive acquisitions for the group in Vietnam’s fast growing consumer space.

Sophie is passionate about investing and building businesses with transformative positive social impact particularly in the fields of healthcare and education. Currently, she oversees her family office’s investments in Asia within these sectors and leads strategic value-adding partnerships for organisations in these industries.

She holds a Master of Science in Management with an Entrepreneurship Major from HEC Paris Business School.

 

Lawrence Koh

Lawrence Koh has 30 years of healthcare supply chain experience, working in various hospitals and clinics in Singapore, Bangkok, Yangon, Dhaka, Manila, Cairo, Shanghai and the United Arab Emirates.

 

Green field hospital projects such as Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok; Asian Hospital in Manila, Pun Hlaing hospital in Myanmar; Square Hospital in Dhaka, the new Al Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi, Delta Health China Hospital in Shanghai and Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi.

 

Brown-field hospital projects in Singapore such Singapore General Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, and East Shore Hospital; Al Rahba Hospital in Abu Dhabi and As Salam Hospital in Cairo. Lawrence also provided Supply Chain consultancy services to clients of GuidePoint Global (USA) and CognoLink (Hong Kong).

 

Lawrence received his Bachelor of Business degree with distinction in Transport and Logistics Management from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia. He is a citizen of Singapore and a Certified Materials & Resource Professional with the American Hospital Association USA.

Robert Mitchell

Robert Mitchell joined TVM Capital Healthcare as an Advisor in December 2010 and serves as Chairman of the Amecath Board. In previous tenures, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Nellix, Inc., Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of AngioDynamics, Inc., a publicly-traded medical device company, and as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Millimed Holdings, Inc., a privately-held medical device company based in Roskilde, Denmark.

 

Robert also served as Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Align Technology, Inc., a publicly-traded company, and held various positions with Cook Incorporated, a privately-held medical device company, including Vice President and Director, Global Sales and Marketing for various business units including diagnostic and interventional, endovascular, critical care.

 

Robert has several decades of experience, and a strong network and business understanding in the Asia Pacific region and has led several senior leadership teams resulting in corporate stability, profitability ahead of schedule, long term growth plans, and increased shareholder value
